How to get a better job
How I did it: I was working full time at a job making $9.50 an hour (which isn't much at all where I live), and I managed to put myself through massage school, just barely. My boyfriend would help me out when I was too broke to buy food (I also hasn't learned any money management skills yet), and he let me use his car.
After school I procrastinated on the massage license test for about a year, because I was afraid I'd fail. Finally I did it, and with hardly any studying, I still passed!
For the last 7 months I've been working 1-2 days a week of massage, and then 5 days at my other job, which is stressful and degrading (AND I've been with the company for 2+ years and I only make 50 cents more than I started at).
I gave them my 2 weeks' notice last week, and today is the first day of my last week!! I am soooooo happy! SO HAPPY!!! I love doing massage, and it's a lot less stressful, and the pay is a lot better too!
Lessons & tips: Don't procrastinate!! That was my biggest problem.
Also, don't be afraid of investing some money, especially into education, even if it gets you into some debt. It cost me about $3,000 total to get my massage license, including school, materials, license fees, etc. If you make a good decision and stick to it, it'll pay itself back many times over!
Resources: My boyfriend. He helped me out when I was broke, and he let me use his car for work and school. Now I have my own car!
My own hard work and persistence. I don't have anyone else to help me.
