How to go to Wacken Open Air
How I did it: I ordered my ticket at Metaltix.de over half a year before the festival, booked a flight from Tampere to Bremen, got a friend of mine to pick me up in Bremen and that's it.
Lessons & tips: It's good to have some friends with you, and even better if you know someone who has been there before. You should also be prepared for a rapidly changing weather (rubber boots would have been good for walking in the mud..).
Do not stress about trying to see as many bands as possible, it's not worth it. Take it easy instead, have a good time and relax. You should also make sure that your running order is up-to-date, because there might be changes to play times a couple of days before the festival.
Resources: Eureka Bed & Breakfast was a good hostel in Bremen. It's situated very close to the airport (20-30 minutes on foot), which makes it a good choice if you are flying in the night.
