How to learn to swim
How I did it: It was always a goal of mine, and a certain humiliating admission, that I wanted to learn to swim. My biggest issue was floating/maneuvering in water for long periods of time and breathing while swimming.
I did it by taking the beginner's swimming class at the local university at the ripe age of 21. Classes were held every Tuesday/Thursday morning and I went to practice at least 2 more times each week.
Lessons & tips: Practice!
Observe others and listen to the instructor to make sure you are incorporating the right elements to your strokes.
Do not be afraid to get submerged into the water during your strokes.
Practice one element at a time if needed such as moving your arms, floating, or kicks, etc.
Your arms are the biggest element to get you moving through the water.
Focus on streamlining your body in the water.
Use kickboards and noodles to start if needed.
Have fun, enjoy yourself.
