I had plans to do this for a year or two.  Planned, planned, thought, thought.

Then started painting. Painted painted. Blogged blogged. Built up my internet platform, got involved in online communities.

Finally started working towards setting up a shop.  Designed and bought business cards, bought packing materials, researched pricing and other etsy shops.

Then photoed all my paintings, edited photos, and listed them on etsy. I did about 4 a day.

Announced to my blog audience that I was opened. Announced to FB friends, twitter, etc.

Then I was a business woman. 

Lessons & tips: Plan and research.  Pick something you love to do and do it well.  Use all your free time to work.  Teach your kids to love sesame street so you can work while they are watching tv.  Encourage naps and quiet time. Make friends online.
