How to take more pride in my appearance
How I did it: First step was retiring my old baggy jeans. The habit of living in baggy jeans and not planning what to wear sure died hard. It took a long time to part with them (only wearing them for Download and Sonisphere - tatty clothes for music festivals).
Now I tend to wear normal fitting black jeans, skirts or dresses! "Whoah! She's got legs!" Was said repeatedly to me by both family and friends, and I've had quite a few compliments since putting in the effort.
All in all it's been well worth it, properly transforming into an adult rather than sticking with the Kevin the teenager look.
Lessons & tips: Find cuts of clothes that suit you and flatter your figure; whatever shape or size you are, there are different styles to suit different people.
(Gleaned from Gok Wan's book)
Wearing smart clothes can be fun by putting your own sense of style into them... And of course the compliments from wearing something a tad more tailored than say, oh, a SACK are pretty good lol!
