How I did it: I went to CCCSSF in San Francisco and made monthly payments to them which they distributed to all my creditors.  They make you cut up all of your cards and also offer classes in money management.  It was like any other addiction, credit is hard to give up.  However, nothing beats the feeling of paying bills on time and not having debt like a rock in the pit of my stomach always nagging me.

Lessons & tips: There are very few companies that really help you with debt, most are out to just get money from you.  CCCSSF is a non-profit organization that really does help.
