How to see the aurora borealis
"The best thing about living way up North is seeing the aurora borealis from your own backyard."
How I did it: I didn't have to go far at all to see the Northern Lights - just out on the back step. My home is up north of the 53rd parallel, so in the winter months, stepping outdoors at night yeilds a view of green, white and pink lights dancing in the night sky. It's a wonderful sight to behold.
Lessons & tips: Be patient - some nights, the lights are little more than a hite smudge in the sky. A truly spectacular view only comes around every so often - keep looking. The higher north you are, you better your view. Be prepared to brave bitter cold to see the aurora borealis!
Resources: Being Canadian helped. Living in northern Canada was even more helpful.
