How to change my lifestyle
How I did it: I wrote,
and I wrote, and I had hard times… I was sinking into myself, but one day, I
read back what I had written on me and the idea of changing my life… and
realized I’d done nothing! This gave me the kick in the back to really start
changing my life. So by writing down my intentions day after day, I turned from
though to concrete my will to change, because even if after all that time, I
had done nothing, I would probably not start to change if I would not have read
these notes.Anyway,
when I received that punch, I started to note the changes I wanted in my life
on three degrees: short, mid and long terms. But instead of only write them
down, I started to apply the easiest that very day, that very moment. And like
the stone starting to roll down the slope and gaining momentum, I achieved some
minor changes, then more and more minor changes, from minor to mid changes, and
finally some key changes in my life. The point is only to keep moving. As a
good friend told me yesterday: The point is not to run in life, it’s
exhausting. You just have to walk, but don’t you ever stop, though!
Lessons & tips: To make
drastic changes, I founded that I needed strong motivations. But since I succeeded
in changing my lifestyle, I understood two things:
-There is many level of changes that can be made
-The motivation's intensity meet the change's intensity
So minor changes can be made easily, if we accept that it need only minor motivations!
We often look for ''good'' reasons (with an S!) to make a change in our life,
but we have to realize that every little change in the good direction make us
evolve, and that only should be motivating enough to make those little changes!
But for bigger changes, here is a good tip:
Write down the change you would like to perform and think about all that goes
around it. Write some of these ''close meaning'' ideas near the main goal, and
then find some key actions the help you reach your goal (about 3-5). Write them
down too.
Forget that list for some times, but keep it somewhere you know you'll have to
find it back. After a month or so, read it and take a look at what you've
achieved. The subconscious work of this action will help you keeping the right
road!
