"Lots of work, emotions, and grief... "
How I did it: Lots of research and heart. Lots of money too (vet fees -for the mama & the pups [shots & more], online ads, supplies, food -for mama & the pups [formula], etc.)
Also, during labor, had to pull a few pups out because they were stuck.
Lessons & tips: I recommend one to research the over population of dogs in our world right now... & consider getting your dog(s) spayed & neutered. I was not aware of the crisis at the time but understand now that adopting rescued animals is definitely the way to go. Be the change you wish to see in the world. :)
I cried with each puppy that left to their new homes. I became way too attached... not on purpose of course but the whole process was extremely emotionally draining, for me. Especially since one (the runt) needed a lot of extra care - mama disowned him & we had to bottle feed him, etc. from day one. Since he was so small, we had to keep him a lot longer than his brothers which allowed for more attachment. Definitely not judging those who wish to breed but saying, for me, I will not again - have since gotten my doggies fixed.
