How to grow locs by NEWphase09

"It is truly an individual process!"

How I did it: I went online, read books and researched different was to start locs. I spoke to different people I know who have them and asked them what their experience was like.

Lessons & tips: Make sure that this is what you want...it does take time. There will be days when you feel ugly as hell, so make sure that you are committed. But once you get passed the awkward phase it is soooo worth it!

Resources: There is a book called Nice Dreads; it gave me info and inspiration about the process

Your dreads look really nice. I am thinking about getting it done myself. Just want to make sure that i can afford the upkeep because i dont want to look like some people do when they dont keep them up.

That's true too

I understand, that was another reason that I waited. I wanted to be sure that I could afford them. It all depends on your hair though. You may be able to go months without needed maintenance or, if your hair is soft like mine, it will come out a lot at first and you will have to go more often at first. Eventually you may be able to maintain it yourself. I know people who do and I plan to one day, but I’m not ready yet. Just keep meditating on it and do what works best for you!
