How to pay off credit cards
How I did it: Paid online with notifications. The second a statement was ready, I paid it! Saved a lot on interest that way.
Paid more than the minimum.
Requested interest drops every time I spoke with them (min. every 6 months).
Put everything I could on the highest-interest card until it was paid off. The interest savings gave me more money to pay the next one.
Lessons & tips: Try to have a buffer savings account for emergencies so you don't have to put things on the cards anymore. You may have a setback or two - but if you do, use the lowest interest card.
Always pay more than the minimum - even if it's only a dollar.
Call and request an interest drop after you've paid more than the minimum for 6 months.
If you can't pay all the bills, pick just one - low interest - card not to pay. Then you only have one bad account. If you round-robin them, then they are *all* bad accounts.
Put any extra cash or "found money" into the highest interest card. You can pay more than once a month on most cards.
