How to get a real job
How I did it: I got a degree in English and worked for about a year at a job I disliked. I decided to go back to school for a teaching degree while I was still young didn't have a husband or kids. I went back to a local college and lived with my parents to save money. It took longer than I expected because classes I needed weren't always offered when I needed them. It was very frustrating at times because I just wanted a real job, but I did find some good temporary work in the meantime that I was relatively happy with. Since I would eventually be getting a teaching job, I worked with kids at a local museum and subbed in the local schools. This helped me get experience and make contacts. I finally graduated last December and got my first job in May.
Lessons & tips: Get experience while you are in school/looking for a job. Volunteer or work part-time in a field related to what you're trying to get into. I was a substitute teacher while I was in school and it helped me make contacts.
