How to make pasta from scratch by besidequietwaters

"Homemade with Love! "

How I did it: After dreaming of making heart-shaped ravioli and then enjoying delicious portobello ravioli at Olive Garden, I knew it was finally time to make my own pasta. I made vermicelli, linguine, and fettuccine. The last of my dough would not extrude through the machine, so I rolled (something I had to throw some weight into) then cut it into heart shapes to fill for yummy one-of-a-kind ravioli.

Lessons & tips: Making pasta from scratch is fun, so don't leave your pasta maker sitting new in its box for years like I did!

Resources: To make the pasta I used:

  • a combination of 75% all-purpose and 25% semolina flours
  • a pinch of salt
  • eggs
  • a little olive oil
  • water

I kept my hearts ready so that when my husband came home from a day of hunting, they were good to go. He seemed to appreciate it!
