How I did it: i finally convinced my husband what an investment it would be for my art and school work. before my mac, i was struggling to do everything on his piece of crap laptop that was falling apart.
Lessons & tips: if you're a student and can provide proof of it, apple will give you a bit of a discount. certain times of the year they'll even throw in a free ipod.
