How I did it: Drew out my garden plans (a bit ambitious- 600 sq ft!), borrowed a friend's tiller, mixed in manure, went seed shopping, bought plants at the farmer's market, planted, watered, tried to keep the pests away and waited ... then I ate and ate and cooked away!

Lessons & tips: For first time gardening, I would suggest buying plants instead of starting from seed indoors.  Sow seeds outside or buy plants.  Growing baby plants inside and then acclimating them to outdoors was a bit much for a first time gardener!
