How to read A Clockwork Orange
"A story of both horror and change; definitely a novel worth reading. "
How I did it: I just went to the library and checked it out. At first the slang made my head spin, but after the first chapter or so, I started to understand it . By the end of the book I didn't even notice it. It was such a great book - I couldn't put it down.
Lessons & tips: Make sure that you find a EUROPEAN or REVISED edition of the novel, and NOT the original American version. The European edition contains all of the 21 chapters to the book. The American publishers decided the 21st chapter was irrelevant, and cut it from the book, leaving only 20 chapters. That last chapter contains most of the transformation that Alex experiances, and there is little to be gleaned from the story without it.
