Karen Armstrong - Buddha
I don’t know if this clashes with your beliefs but I read this book recently and its the best book I think you could find as an addition to practical aspects of meditation.
Its a brilliant book. I must read it again. However, from reading this I realised I couldn’t and don’t want to be a buddhist. Nevertheless, there is so much in it.
Its a biography of Buddha. She is a religious scholar of international repute and so not to be dismissed lightly. Her style is very readable. ‘
I am mainly putting this here not for you but for those who may read your post about meditation.
CookieRa Hmmm . . What to do, what to do . . .
Excellent! Thanks for that.
I’ve no real beliefs as such to clash with – I’m open to alot of things at the moment=) Yeah I’ve dabbled in the philosophies and doings of Buddhism – actually I first learnt meditation in my local Buddhist centre.
I’m very intrigued by his teachings and philosophies but like yourself I’ve some reservations about becoming a Buddhist. Though I’ve heard it’s one of those religions or ways that creeps up on you – lol! Stealth Buddhism!
Will definitely look that up=)
