"I used a demo recording of my bands song "Razor Fern", a live gig, a miniDV camcorder and iMovie to make my our first music video."
How I did it: My band, The Tangled Cord, recorded a 3 song demo and wanted to make a music video for our song "Razor Fern" we had a show coming up and invited a lot of our friends.
I brought my miniDV camera and asked my friend, a film major, to take video of us while we played.
He did a really great job of getting as many different angles/perspectives as possible (this will help later on).
He filmed our whole set (roughly 30 min) and after that I took the video off the camera and put it on my computer.
This is the fun part, go through the video and find all the "good" parts of the performance. (ex. cool faces the drummer is making, any jumping up and down, etc etc)
Now arrange these clips in any order you would like. And after you are done put the audio from the song you recorded underneath it all (make sure to cut out the camera audio).
This video is going to be more of a showcase of what you're band is like live. Nothing will be truly "synced" up with the audio.
Lessons & tips: If you are in a band a video is a great thing to have, even if its a simple performance video.
