How to be vegetarian for a month
How I did it: Didn't buy any meat for two weeks prior to my designated "month," so I could eat through what meat was left in my fridge. I wanted to eliminate any temptation, so in the event I came home from a party buzzed I wouldn't be able to go strait for the chicken fingers in the freezer or a Dagwood sandwich.
Aside from that, it was fairly easy. My wife joined in with me, so we took a lot of pasta recipes that we would normally put chicken in, and substituted broccoli and peppers so it still had some kind of substance. I made sure to keep eating eggs and drinking milk to replace the lost protein, along with a hefty 10 lb bag of peanuts which served me well for snacks.
Lessons & tips: Pack lunches for work or school. It can be vastly tempting to look at a menu at a fast food joint and try to opt for apple slices or muster the willpower to tell them to hold the chicken strips on your salad. My wife and I just didn't cut recipes in half like we usually do, so instead of having 2 servings for dinner, we would make 4 to last us through the next days lunch.
Resources: Kraft Macaroni and Cheese (for when we wanted quick and easy, most microwave meals are x with meat sauce or x with chicken)
any and all breakfast cereals
