How I did it: ive been planning to go since about april so i didn't spend a penny.. which was quite hard considering im a bit ofa shopaholic but i did alltogther my whole family had a bit over 5,000 dollars, we booked a package from expedia.ca, and off we went! had an amazing time.

Lessons & tips: don't stress TOO much about the hotel.. if you're actually going to see new york you're rarely going to be in your hotel just to sleep
