How to finish setting up the new blog
How I did it: Instead of trying to make it perfect and completely customized right out of the gate, I opted to go with a pre-made template which made things a lot easier and lot less stressful. I have already posted my first blog entry which is another weight off my mind and now I can take care of getting my custom header made and custom colors and whatever else I want to change at my own speed knowing that the blog is up and running. While it may not be exactly how I want the end result to look it definitely suits my personality and the look that I was going for so that I will be able to blog and get the blog up and running while I work on all of the customization.
Lessons & tips: Try not to strive for perfection on your very first try. I spent hours and hours working on a custom header and in the end I hated how it looked. So instead of letting the header postpone the beginning of the blog any further, I chose a pre-existing template and the blog is now up and running and I can take my time working on a header that I actually like.
Resources: After setting up blogs using blogspot and wordpress I finally decided to settle on typepad. It's not free like the others but I did get a 2 week free trial so I'm going to see how I like it and then go from there.
