How to walk the Inca Trail
How I did it: I did a 70 day tour of sth america through Tucan travel, and as a part of that did the inca trail. Was great as I had all the people i was on tour with doing it with me, lots of support, as some were faster than others and we'd wait at the top of the deadwomans pass..the highest point at 4200m, and cheer on the others as they climbed the last stretch to the top.
Lessons & tips: have good shoes, you don't need hiking boots my tucan tour leader did it barefoot..but she's hardcore!
Resources: Tucan Travel, my tour leader, the Inca trail tour guide, a walking stick, the porters that carried our gear! The porters are great tho you feel bad for them as they carry a crazy amount of stuff but they get good money and apparently is a very good job for them, cocoa leaves/lollies (for breathing) ipod
