How to learn to salsa dance
How I did it: Salsa actually came to me :-) .. I started meeting people who were involved in dancing salsa, organizing Latin parties and even playing Latin music in clubs. So as I got an invitation to go see a salsa lesson I excitedly agreed.
I joined that school the same day and took beginners lessons twice a week.
The basic steps seemed a little confusing at first but as with everything else, the more you practice the better you get :-D (Many people are able to learn the basics very fast and without any difficulties, unfortunately I wasn't one of them..) :-) But as I said the more I practiced the easier it became and the more crazy I got about this sensual and lively dance!
Lessons & tips: I strongly advise to try different schools and not give up or get disappointed with the first you visit. There are different approaches to teaching the same things so keep looking until you find the approach that suits you best.
Tip: Some schools offer a free sampling lesson so don't hesitate to take advantage, also ask about this in advance and they might make this possible for you even if they usually do not.
Resources: If you are serious about Salsa its a good idea to invest into a pair of quality salsa dancing shoes. (The soles of these shoes can usually be bended so that the tip touches the heel of the shoe) As with all the shoes make sure they fit well and secure around your foot well.
Tip: wear them at home and practice before your lesson to get used to their feel.
