How to get a new bike
"stole my friends brompton foldbike for months, then saved up for my very own brompton."
How I did it: For the longest time I've been wanting to have my own fold-bike. I had been "borrowing" my friend's beautiful Brompton fold-bike for what must have been nearly 6 months.
Brompton's have been a super innovative fold bike for many years now, and even in the past couple years have improved a lot of the light weight parts and electric parts that make it unique. My dream was to find a used one while I was in Canada, no dice. So, I come to find out Noe Valley Cyclery here in SF will do a special order. Within a months time I had my new bike shipped from London, and here it is.
Lessons & tips:
- be super careful around train tracks on any bike, but especially the smaller wheels of a fold bike, city riding can be dangerous
- since it's a fold bike take advantage of folding it and bringing it in with you, bike thievery be gone.
- brompton's are commuter bikes at heart, get a road bike if you want to win a race, but if you do push the limits of it (like I do) wear a helmet when you can, I've taken 2 spills since I've gotten it just due to speeding and the fact that it's not made for high-speed turning.
