How to fix my teeth
How I did it: My teeth have always been straight; it was my bite that needed fixing. I had braces when I was younger, but could never be relied upon to wear my retainer and, of course, my bite changed back with time.
I started to notice last year that my bottom teeth were starting to turn; the extra pressure of my bite shifting was making them crooked. Not wanting to deal with a mouth full of jagged edges, I returned to my orthodontist, head hung in shame.
He told me there were two options: invisalign, which would do little for my bite and take over two years to complete, or braces for about 6 - 8 months.
I, of course, being a vain college-age lady, chose the invisalign, with no understanding of just how painful they are. I say with great conviction that they are not worth the hassle. At all.
After a few months of painful waiting, I decided to go with braces instead. Eight months later, they're off! Completely worth the time and effort.
Although, I can't honestly say they're worth the money.. as I didn't have to pay anything.
My orthodontist, Dr. Tran, told me that there was no way of knowing why my teeth went back to the way they were.. so he didn't charge us.
He's such a good person; I'm very thankful for him.
Lessons & tips: Wear your damn retainer. And put in your rubber bands. They're a pain, but you'll get out so much faster if you just go with it.
The first time around took 3 years of me fighting them off. I wore them everyday the second time around and got out in 8 months.
