How to organize my 72 Hour Kit for Emergency Preparedness

Comments:

Trauma_Junkie enjoyed her Christmas Package.

very thorough

I’m impressed. I freaked out during our tropical storm Fay this year and had only water as my back up. Luckily we sufferred only minor flooding and a feeling of the need to build an ark! I need to motivate now that the season is almost done and try to prepare for net year.

lunachick is actively immersed in making New Orleans a safer place to live.

You should meet my friend with the bomb shelter...

I was trying to strike a happy medium between his “Shelter-in-place with a year’s supply of food and water for the entire family!” solution and just winging it, for what it’s worth! (Grin!)

I didn’t live in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina (I was living in Seattle at the time and it’s all about “earthquake preparedness” around there). That helped me to have at least 2/3rds of the stuff on the lists on hand before I’d even returned to NOLA… All I had to do was make up my mind to finish the task.

I realize that most of the stuff in my “hurrication kit” is likely to be the most useful if I decide to stay put instead of bugging out of town (evacuating). But I figure that the non-perishable supplies could be helpful to me wherever I’m living if things happen to go sideways, so it’s all good.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if I may be of assistance in any way; you owe it to yourself and your loved ones to do the work now to make things easier during an emergency!

lunachick has gotten 3 cheers on this entry.
