How to be a better mom
How I did it: Let's see...we started scouts, took up wrestling (which he hated!), soccer (they both LOVE it), church. It's made a huge difference with my son. He has ADHD and was dealing with anger issues associated with my ex-husband. I went through a VERY rough divorce and ended up worrying that I was proccupied with alcohol and neglecting my kids a bit when it came to leading a good example. My son needed exposure to social situations and it was pretty rough the first year.
Lessons & tips: It was all about what would make them better adults. All those things build character and kept me too busy to worry about the depressing aspects of divorce and poverty. There are many scholarships out there for single parents with low income. Don't resign to do nothing just because you're broke!
Resources: Talk to the event leaders/office about wanting to enrich their lives on a shoestring budget.
