How to build my business back to what it was last year
How I did it: On pace for a record year. Some of those ideas I had 3 years ago worked. The key is creating a buzz, people like to be a part of something.
I've hosted weddings and rock concerts (making sure I got free press for both) advertised in different venues. Tried a 'Special People' promotion where people of different tribes (people with two zeros in the driver's license, people with a badge, people not born in Canada . . .) would get in all week for a discount. I had to quit that one over a couple of controversial weeks. May bring it back. We let people bring their own containers for Pop and Pop Corn and offer a flat price to fill them up, we tell a joke before the show, we have a dog that greets people . . . anything that will set us apart and get people talking to other people about us.
I have many more ideas, including doing carwashes for people while they watch a movie, more concerts, doorprizes . . . I just heard yesterday that Jimmy Hendricks once played a concert in my theatre. I will look into that. I could do some real cool promotions but most of those ideas contravene the lotteries act.
We are setting a record pace for gross income, we still have a lot of ground to catch the attendance record. I will be aiming for that in 2010.
