How to become an English teacher by phrogprince

"I can't believe I wasted my life doing anything else..."

How I did it: I started by going to the county that I live in and their public school site.  They had links to various teaching cert programs that they are paired up.  I picked the one that was the shortest, cheapest, and I could do while working.

Lessons & tips: It's difficult work (and it's only been three weeks) and tiring.  But if it's something that you really want to do, just do it and you'll be find.

How is it going?

Are you keeping your head above water? Do you have ready access to a mentor or buddy teacher to help with the daily emergencies and questions? It’s a tough but very rewarding profession (I’m a speech therapist working in a school district with 30 years experience). Here’s some hard-earned advice:
Find someone you can let off steam with, but keep it short. Focus on the positive, enjoy the moment, take time to laugh…you get the idea!

Apologies for the Delay

It’s great! I’ve been having a lot of fun, though it is very stressful, especially since I’m the theater director. I have both (the mentor and the buddy teacher) and I couldn’t do it without them. My RT is great. I have very few complaints…
