How to dance in public
How I did it: I went clubbing with my friend, after weeks of talking about going.I knew she really wanted to dance but I couldn't do it - I was nervous! She bought me a drink or three, then dragged me out onto the dancefloor. I was a bit slow into it at first, but the club was crowded and the music was loud and I felt so comfortable, it was easy! Plus, I was wearing my new shoes and skinny jeans - made me feel super confident.
Lessons & tips: A little Dutch courage isn't necessarily a bad thing, until you're used to it. Realise that nobody actually cares what you look like - they're all either having too much fun, or worrying about what you think of them. The main thing is to make sure you feel 100% confident before you leave. Get a friend to tell you you look fantastic. Music that makes you want to dance helps as well. We listened to a bunch of club music before we left, and had a couple of drinks before going into town.
Resources: The bartender, an outgoing friend who loves to dance and I feel completely comfortable with, and music that you can't not dance to.
