How to get health insurance
How I did it: I was denied coverage for health insurance due to 'marital counseling' and because I was applying for individual insurance I can get turned down for anything. I felt so frustrated at getting turned down by so many companies and began to look at the state pool insurance program. I finally enrolled in a junior college and, while it's hard work, as long as I maintain a certain number of college hours I am eligible for student health insurance. It made me laugh that a middle-aged person had to get student insurance but whatever works!
Lessons & tips: Keep looking EVERYWHERE! And support health care reform. it's crazy that a healthy, vegetarian, non-smoking person can't get insurance but an unhealthy person can just because of where each person works.
