How I did it: Told myself, that I REALLY REALLY want to do this, NO MORE of my favorite sitcoms...I will never see them again though I really love them (Oh, such a tragic lovestory...)
and I will no more watch television with friends and family. If anybody wants to spend time with me...I don't wanna spent my time for somebody who, when it comes right down to it- wants to watch TV and not spend time with me. So I will not do this as a social event anymore. Instead the social events will hopefully get more social (playing,c ooking, going outside). I just stopped it.
Lessons & tips: Don't give in towhat you call good memories, lonelyness or boredom. Do something you can be proud of.

Good for you! My life has changed drastically since moving to Portland and giving up TV. First, I’m not all consumed by the latest gossip or news story anymore. I also don’t feel like commercials are screaming their jingles at me all the time like they used to! I have so much more time and there are some shows I miss but OH WELL. If it’s not on Hulu, it isn’t for me.
