How to live in my car
How I did it: I am currently living in my car, it's only a temporary situation but some stuff came up at home with my roommate that was so stressful I couldn't stand the thought of going home.
I mostly park at boat landings and the like I feel safe there and there are usually bathrooms with at least a toilet. I live in a small town so I'm pretty sure even if the cops stopped me they would leave me alone since I know most of them. The only thing that sucks is killing time when I have nothing else to do but audio books help with that. I can drive around and steal wifi but right now I have to either go to work after it's closed or go to a coffee shop for a couple of hours once a day to recharge my laptop and cellphone batteries. I have an AC inverter that will help A LOT but it's at my exhusband's house once I get that this coming week my life will get much easier.
I have two kids and I have them every other week so at the moment I will have to go home on the weeks I have them but my roommate agreed to stay at a friends house while I'm there with the kids. I wouldn't call it the most comfortable place to sleep in the world but I have my good pillow and plenty of cozy blankets that make me feel like I'm in a nest.
I have about 15 books in the car with me and a few movies I can watch on my laptop. Having stuff like that around keeps it feeling homey. I just try to keep the trunk, where I store almost everything I have with me, very very organized so I don't loose things or end up with chaos.
I wouldn't say that I love it but I certainly don't hate it. It's worth doing and putting the effort into. I must admit I feel amazingly free and do kinda like that when I have free time during the day when I'm not at work that sleeping in the sun is a nice warm option!
