How I did it: I kept putting this off until 'the right time' came around. After I sold my car I had a bit more money, which helped. I decided that it was silly putting this off any longer - I wanted to invest some money in me rather than in toys.

I found three coaches in the press and online that were reasonably local and that specialized in career coaching. I spoke to all three and then made my decision.

Lessons & tips: Its early days, but make sure you know what it is going to cost so there aren't any major surprises.

If it really does seem too much, consider self or group coaching. I used 'Life Coaching for Dummies - Jeni Munford' to get me started.

At least it teaches the basics, and gives a good guide to what coaching is and what it can do you for.
