How to save up 3 months worth of salary for emergencies
"Didn't work out exactly like I thought it would."
How I did it: So, I put away 10% of my paycheck every time and plus had my IRA contributions. And then when an emergency did occur, I ended up using that money to pay 6 months worth of rent, insurance, utilities, non-perishable consumables (soap, toilet paper, etc.) in order to "qualify" for useless public assistance.
Now, instead of saving up the money, I am just paying ahead on all my rent, utilities, etc. so that I have them paid up for a year in advance (still working on it!)
That way, I have no assets to declare, but if something happens, I am still covered for the essentials.
Don't put your cash anywhere they can trace it.
