How to keep a sketch book
How I did it: I bought a sketch book. started writing what i thought about haveing a sketch book in the skethcbook (as i walked out the shop) and this had a seed of what i was going to do in it. that seed was storytelling and human comunication. From then on i leeched everthing i could into it and comiting my self to filling it at least a page a day.

Lessons & tips: 1. doodle and get over the tyranny of the blank page
2. draw only on one side of the page so u can use the images if u take them out and so u can see the entire content as a whole.
3. draw from the real world by observation drawing. then play with you images imaginativly. also write in it.
4. anotate your sketch book as well as using other visuel languages like mind map and flow charts.
5. balance haveing fun in your comfortzone and drawing unfamiler stuff.
6 fill it will photos print outs and source
7. buy one cheap enough you would burn a hole in it for a drawing and expensive /good enough that it will stay in one peice.
8. learn some basic book binding and make your own sketch books. (realy fun and cheap)
9. If your are stuck on what to do buy a smallish one (20 pages a4) chose a theme and fill it in a week
10. also set goels now and a gain like draw five building. draw 3 pages of hands
11, materials mean sweat f@#k all so draw with what u have be it charcoal a ballpoint of a stick and a pile of mud.
12 since materials dont matter u can play with them
13 a good idea is when ur working on a painting or a drawing, build a pallet in your sketch book. so u could be doing life drawing in charcoal and u build up diferent tones in the drawings, record them in your sketch book.
14 if ur new to this u will need to build a habbit out of it, to do this set a minimun oage count that you compleat a day and make it easy say 1 to 3. do this for 2 months and you will be hooked. make it a daily goel
15. ignore all spelling gramer and punctuation errors. flameing will get you no wher u will just look like an ignorant ass. futher more i have officialy have a genius iq.
16 I will explain something u sincerly found it too difficult to under stand.
17. back to the sketch book tips use it as a note pad especialy for designers and artists you like the look of. so your looking at books or at a gallery you spot something funky looking make some notes go home and google it then write down what you find.
18. do something to the cover, anything. even if it is last minute.
19. i use pictures from nwpapers in mine as source but since they arn't precios i study them bye visuely disecting them. so i delinate the contours of a face or the dark tones as a black inky shape.
20. for doing the above grabing a pad of traceing paper is great becuase u can study the same pic in so many ways. its like doing a x_ ray then a cat scan and then on.
21. ask for help, try other peaples ideas in your work, and get personal with it.
