How to clean my room
How I did it: I started by clearing out clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and giving them all away. I did not save things or try to sell them on ebay, I wanted them out IMMEDIATELY. Then I cleaned the surfaces of everything, and got rid of clutter. I minimalized everything as best as I could in a small apartment. It now feels airier, bigger, and more comfortable.
Lessons & tips: I would say do not hold on to things that you haven't used or thought about in a year or more. I would also suggest you watch "Hoarders" on A&E. The show is more extreme obviously but it motivates you to realize that you hold onto things for reasons that are not healthy. Clothes and things you don't wear or use should be donated to those who can benefit from them. In the end, you have to remember you'll be so much happier with your space when its clean and you aren't looking at all your stuff.
Resources: The show Hoarders helped motivate me, looking at other people's houses and rooms that were clean made me want mine to be that way, and also the desire to decorate and make the room more personalized. Also I thought about the worth of all the stuff that I keep throwing on the floor, and its sad when you are throwing thousands of dollars on the ground and treating your stuff like garbage.
