How to start running and keep on running
How I did it: In February 2009, I signed up to run the Seattle Rock n' Roll Marathon. I knew I couldn't (more like wouldn't) train on my own, so I joined up with Joints in Motion, organized by the Arthritis Foundation. We were given a training program with 5 days of running, 1 of them a long run with the group. I was up early 20 Saturday's in a row and ran my 1st marathon on June 27th in 4 hours 31 minutes!
*Unfortunately, I have not kept on running. Running ~5 days/week for 5 months burnt me out. A great way to keep in shape and I was lucky my body/legs stayed healthy, but without the group and big race, I haven't been running (other than 1x/week soccer). Even though the majority of my training was on my own, the weekly group runs, great people I trained with, and organization/people we helped raise money for was what kept me going. We'll see what gets me back out there for good.
