How to learn to save money

"It's a great feeling to have money in the bank, just in case."
How I did it: I set a goal, a reason to save. First I just wanted a cat, so I saved a couple hundred dollars, then I decided I wanted skis, so I saved 1000 dollars. Recently I decided I wanted to move across the country, so I am saving for that. I put all the little extras in the savings, plus as much as I could each month, this way I didn't feel bad if I took a little out for something special. I also kept in mind that I didn't want to stop living in order to save a little money, I wanted to do both.
