How to be on a game show
How I did it: Auditioned twice for it. The first time I was too meek, the second time I nailed it because I knew what they were looking for. They really don't care if you win or get the answers right since they already see the prize money as lost - they just want you to be interesting, funny, unique and/or entertaining for TV so they can get good ratings & more sponsorship/ads!
Now, I can't disclose whether or not I won anything until it airs (I'll post when that is) since I signed my life away, but I CAN say the show is called CATCH 21 airing on GSN. The experience was very exciting and yes I was nervous but tried to have fun and relax as best as I could - the fact I was on a game show was already a big deal to me, and knowing that I beat out a lot of people who auditioned was a good feeling that I did something right.
I will probably try a few more game shows since it was a great experience with national exposure as well as the opportunity to win lots of money. It was a great day off and there were a lot of fun, nice people! Plus the craft services/snacks/food are totally worth it :)
Lessons & tips: Be enthusiastic honest & fun, have good stories, have lots of energy and RELAX - if you don't know an answer there's not much you can do so don't stress over it. That being said, if you think you know the answer, go for it! Most game shows don't penalize you (of course it's a good idea to know the show inside & out before you audition for it so you don't take needless risks).
Resources: Craigslist, people who've been on it, casting sites, watching game shows and calling the number or using the website address to get onto the show.
