How to plan and go on a family holiday (in France)
How I did it: We rented a car to do the trip down and rented a mobile home in Le-Grau-du-Roi for 2 weeks. I can't say we could have done it any better.
I can recommend using the excellent Tomtom device for directions and traffic. It also helps to use an itrip device to hook up your ipod to the car radio, if you want a break from the weird French radio stations.
Lessons & tips: Go to the south of France in September! Great weather, off-season prices and less tourists. For example: When we walked around the ramparts of Aigues-Mortes, we did not have to share them with 150 other people. We came across maybe 15.
Resources: Hertz for the car, arke.nl for the mobile home.
Plans for visits and day trips were made by use of Rough Guide Languedoc-Roussillon and Michelin Guide Provence.
