How to assistant direct a play
"This was a lot of time BUT a lot of fun."
How I did it: The director asked if I would be interested, with part of the show turned over to me to actually direct, with his help. Of course everything went great once we picked out the perfect cast. There wasn't much work to do. Give them a few ideas and let them take off with them. Then make sure they don't forget... And go ahead and try things out. Some work, some don't, but a lot of times you can't tell until you see it.
Lessons & tips: Work with a good director. Make sure that the cast is both creative and able to take direction. But this was very time consuming. About 3 evenings a week for 3 months, then we got serious.
