How to b.Y.O.Bag Project (A movement to save the environment one bag at a time)
How I did it: The toughest thing about this is remembering your bags. I think I have a total of about seven in various places, some haven't made it out of the kitchen since my last grocery trip, some in the trunk, some in the back seat. How I really started remembering was this: I grocery shopped, got close to check out and realized I'd forgotten. So, I went to the customer service desk, asked them to watch my cart while I went and got my bags, and then went all the way back to my car to get them. I started remembering after that. Now, I feel like something's missing if I don't have an empty bag with me when I go to the store. It took awhile, but now I hardly ever forget. Once I've emptied them out at home, I hang them on the front door knob to remember to take them when I go out next. Really easy.
Lessons & tips: When you're tempted to get lazy and not go get your bags when you've forgotten them, just picture the Pacific Garbage Patch the size of Texas and how plastic bags contribute to it and poison the ocean. Then park your cart by customer service, ask them to watch it, and go get your reusable bags!
