How to pierce my ears
How I did it: I went with my ID to the piercing place where I've had all my piercings save two done (the other place was a nightmare--a daith that was infected for a year straight and a misplaced septum piercing)--so yeah, reputation and cleanliness is everything. It was the 13th time I was going to be pierced somehow so I wasn't scared or worried or anything. I was nervous when my usual piercer wasn't there but there was a cutie named greg who really knew what he was doing (@ chameleon in harvard sq., cambridge) so I trusted him. By the way, i would recommend chameleon with piercings but NOT for tattoos. There are better places to get inked elsewhere. Greg pierced my ears, and now i have pierced ears. Not much else to say.
Lessons & tips: Be meticulous in cleaning your piercing. Follow your piercer's advise. I lost one of the studs when I was cleaning it and had to go back to the bad studio and they charged me $50 for titanium ones to replace the incomplete pair. I had put in another pair when I lost the original, but ended up giving in and spending the fifty bucks b/c with the wrong kind/grade of metal they'll heal wrong/awkwardly (think weird colors, mine were agitated and purplish with the regular earrings in when they weren't completely healed. Take care and good luck!
Resources: Don't be scared, and don't shy away because you're scared. Relatively it's a very small fear/amount of pain, so face it if you want cute earrings!
