Just goes to illustrate the power of relationships and networking for getting jobs…less competition, too, than craigslist.
How I did it: I was taking a calculus 2 class in college and met Fred. While waiting for class to start I told him I was looking for a job, and he offered to bring me an application. He brought it the next day. We set up an interview and I was hired right away. It was the easiest job I ever got.
Lessons & tips: Tell EVERYONE you meet that you are looking for a job. You might not find instant gratification this way, but each person will "bump" closer and closer to what exactly your looking for. Eventually you'll run into the person who bumps you hard enough that you land right where you need to be, but it's probably going to take a few nudges here and there before you are bounced to your last big bump. And never give up! Anyone who wants a job will always eventually get one if they have the resolve to persist and endure the long periods of uncertainty and hopelessness. Believe in your self, and stay strong even if it gets tough.
