How I did it: My friends Megan and Sabrina got piercing the day before, but had a bad experience at the place they went to, Megan's nose was pierced wrong and Sabrina's lip had to be pierced twice. So the next day I was jealous of them for having new piercings so I decided right then and there that I was going to get my lip done. Megan and our friend Jeni went with me (to a different place from where Megan had gone the day before, this one was right down the road and a legit place for piercings/tattoos), Jeni held my hand and looked away while Megan watched so that she could tell me what it looked like. I was suprised that it didn't hurt. it's been sore for the past few days since I got it done, but I don't regret it at all. Also, while we there the piercer fixed Megan's nose piercing for her (for free!).

Lessons & tips: Check out the place you want to get it done at first, like I said Megan and Sabrina didn't research and it ended up costing them some pain.I knew the the place I went to (New Addiction in Kalamazoo, MI) was respectable and super clean/safe.  Also, take ibuprofen for the first few days to help the soreness.

Resources: If you're residing in the Western Michigan area definitely check out New Addiction on W. Michigan Ave. They're so nice, I kept telling the piercer how scared I was, but she made me really comfortable.
