How to own horses
How I did it: I have wanted horses my whole life. I recently bought my own home and decided it was time to live my dreams. I went to a farm and found a mother and colt Clydesdale pair. Once it was time to wean the colt, I traded him for a 13 year old broke palomino mare. The two mares are a lot of fun and a TON of work (literally, since my Clyde mare weighs a ton).
Lessons & tips: If you can take lessons, do! Read all you can! Watch videos. Talk with EVERYONE you can that might know about horses. Get online and join chat rooms or horse communities. They will gladly give you advise and information on horses. And just a tip: HORSES AREN'T CHEAP. Shots, farrier, teeth floating, worming, tack, boarding, every time you turn around you will need or want something else.
