How to have my first kiss
How I did it: Over the past few months I had developed a crush on this guy. I thought that like every other crush, it would go nowhere, but I was still persistent. I would talk to this guy in school and on facebook and I thought of us as friends. Well, one night changed it all.
I received an invite to a 16th birthday party that was to take place on October 3rd. At first I was excited and immediately called in my RSVP to the party. When the day of the party was there however, I was kind of reluctant to go seeing as I'm not much of a party type person. Also, I had a dance rehearsal that day for many hours and when I got back I was pretty tired. I almost didn't go to the party, but one of my friends asked for a ride there so I ended up going.
The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door was the rack of jackets hanging up against one of the walls. My eyes immediately caught sight of one sweatshirt in particular...it was his sweatshirt. After seeing that I dragged my friend onto the dance floor in search of him. I made sure that we walked by him so that he just might notice I was there. I guess it kind of worked. About a half hour into the party he came up to me and asked if I wanted to dance with him. That was the turning point of this whole thing if you ask me. He basically stayed next to me the whole time. We talked and danced some...then they started playing slow songs. To my surprise he actually wanted to dance with me. At first I got all nervous and unsure if I enjoyed the whole idea of slow dancing, but by the second song I realized I actually enjoyed it.
Well now onto the kiss. Towards the end of the party a slow song came on; I Don't Want to Miss a Thing by Aerosmith. As before, I was dancing with this guy. Earlier on in the night I had noticed that whenever I smiled he seemed to smile back, but I had thought nothing of it. However, when we were dancing I kept glancing up at his eyes to see them staring back at me, shimmering in the light and he would smile. Every time I looked into his eyes I would shy away and quickly move my eyes into the distance. One of these times that I looked at him, he reached out to brush my hair out of my face and I started to ask myself what was going on. Before I knew it, we continued to dance. Towards the end of our song he moved his arm and I was completely oblivious as to what was going to happen next.
I looked up at him and it just happened. He moved in and kissed me. It was very romantic, not what I had expected, but I enjoyed it so much. He actually kissed me twice. The first time was kind of a fail, but the second time I basically just let myself stop caring. Then I realized that he obviously knew what he was doing and that I had no experience whatsoever in this area. Oh well. To shorten a long story, we are now going out and I like him a lot more than I had originally planned.
The only downside to the story is that one of my friends saw it. She said I looked like I had no idea what was going on. This is very true.
Lessons & tips:
- Don't think about it as much as I did, you'll only start doubting yourself
