How I did it: I broke up with someone earlier this year who I thought I was going to marry (thankfully this didn't happen!). At the time I was pretty upset but after a couple of months of being single I wanted to see that there were still good men out there so I tried internet dating. I didn't have much luck on these sites. All the men I liked weren't interested in me and I wasn't particularly interested in a lot of men on these sites.

So I was on the verge of giving up and then I met the love of my life :)

I met Pete when/where I least expected to meet the love of my life: at an insect study group of all places (my mother dragged me along and I knew nothing about insects at that stage!). 2 months later he was at a youth climate change coalition meeting (we were the only 2 people there!). We became friends on facebook and 3 weeks later we had our first date!

Lessons & tips:

• Don't sell out and settle for someone who tries to change you
• If you find yourself chatting late into the night and not wanting it to end, it's a pretty good sign that he/she is a keeper
• Shared values makes a huge difference
• If he/she comes from a good family, it's a pretty good sign!
