How I did it: We stopped by several days in a row to get a feel for the different dogs and hopefully find a perfect match. Unfortunately, our family could not agree on how to integrate the little guy into our living space and we returned him to the shelter to find a family.  Our specific issue was that one half of the home management team insisted on keeping the dog locked in a cage all day and night and the other half felt that he should live in the home like any other family member.

Lessons & tips: It is important to line out all the details of how the new family member will integrate into the household BEFORE bringing them home.
